RE: Mark Clemons: Candidate for Teacher of the Year
Dear Awards Committee: In 1987 my dad and I enrolled in the Heating
and Air Conditioning class instructed by Mark Clemons at Meridian Technology
Center in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Mark
was a great instructor and we both enjoyed learning from him. I was able to
obtain employment in the heating and air conditioning industry, have worked at
several Air Conditioning jobs and am now licensed with a great job supervising
in retrofit/remodel work and also as a technician in the service department of a
local company. You will find former students of Mr. Clemons
working at or running nearly every Heating and Air Conditioning related business
within 50 miles of Stillwater, and in many other cities across the country
thanks to the business contacts which Mark maintains.
Mark has set up his program so that every student has the opportunity to
gain the knowledge and skills needed to start a career in the field and many
have excelled. My son was also fortunate enough to attend Meridian
Technology Center classes instructed by Mark. Casady enrolled in 1999 and
graduated in 2001. Under Mark’s
guidance Casady took first place at state in the Sheet Metal competition and
competed in nationals in Kansas City. I
believe that the skills he has learned while enrolled in the program will allow
him to gain employment or enroll in a College technical school if he so desires.
He has been working at the same company where I work since the summer after his
first year in Mark’s program. He
has a lot of respect for Mark and I am proud of what he has accomplished.
His brother is considering enrolling in the program when he reaches the
11th grade. Three generations of my family have benefited from
Mr. Clemons enthusiastic, motivational teaching and we would certainly feel that
he would be worthy of the Teacher of the Year award. Sincerely, Barry Adams Western
